I am a clinical psychologist since 1998 after a four year Post Hoc Clinical Specialisation at the Faculty of Psychology in Padua, and became chartered psychotherapist since 2003.

During my analytical training I was President elect and President of the International Psychoanalytical Studies Organization (IPSO) between 2008/2011.

I completed my Psychoanalytical Training at the Italian Psychoanalytical Society, a component Society of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA).

I’m a guest member of the British Psychoanalytic Society and BPC chartered member.

I have been working in private practice in Padua since 1998 and lately moved to London where I currently work in private practise, and act as supervisor for KIDS Company and recently for SidebeSide Foundation.

I have been working at Padua University, Faculty of Psychology, as a Lecturer since 1998 on various researches in psychoanalysis and teaching courses on: psychoanalysis, primary and advanced level, psychoanalytical models; I have given seminars on adolescence, psychosomatic theories in psychoanalysis, the relation of mind/body in psychoanalysis

Since 2009 I have been teaching at the University School of Psychotherapy of Life Circle (Director: Prof Lis). The School specialises in postgraduate studies of four years in Clinical Psychotherapy and Clinical psychology from infancy to old age. I have been appointed for three years (2011/2013) to teach Psychoanalytic Psychodiagnosis and have acted as supervisor for cases at the Department Clinic for Students of Padua University.
From 1997 to 2002 I have been collaborating with a group researching psychoanalytical oriented psychotherapy, time limited, in the University School of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. This psychotherapeutic model is a time limited (six months) therapy which was originally thought to allow patients who cannot afford psychoanalysis in private practice to undergo psychotherapy following the classical psychoanalytical model. The date of termination is established from the very beginning and inevitably creates and evokes a certain amount of separation anxiety that is meant to be deeply explored during the therapy. This five years research culminated in the publication of a book: “Time of Separation: A model of brief Psychotherapy Psychoanalytically oriented and time limited” in collaboration - among others - with Prof Enrico Mangini (Former President of the Centro Veneto di Psicoanalisi in Padua).

From 1998 to 2004 I took part of a research group on “Adolescence” with Proff. Racalbuto (Training analyst, S.P.I.), Mangini (Training analyst, S.P.I.), Maria Costantini (full member, S.P.I.), Esposito (full member, S.P.I.), Ferruzza (Director of the Specialisation School of Psychotherapy Director), Nicolini (Professor of Clinical Colloquium) on “adolescence related issues”. The group published several books for which I wrote two chapters on body/mind relation, psychosomatic, drug addiction in adolescence and psychoanalysis (see Publications).

Since 1998 I have been working with severe psychiatric patients at the University Psychiatric Clinic of the Padua Hospital and since 2001 in therapeutic Residential Communities (Clinics) for drug addicted and dual diagnosis patients, meaning someone who has both a co-occurring mental illness and a substance use problem: alcohol, heroin addicted, multiple chemical and drug addiction) as Group and individual psychotherapist psychoanalytically oriented.

Between 2008 to 2010, I was director of a Dual Diagnosis Residential Community In Vicenza, with twenty residents and a staff of seven people.

As IPSO President, I have been working to increase Members’ benefits in collaboration with the I.P.A./I.P.S.O. Relations Committee.

Together with IPSO Executive Committee we organized the biannual IPSO Congresses in Chicago (2009) and in Mexico City (2011), during IPA biannual Conferences. We also actively participated with the IPA China Committee in preparing the 1st Asian Psychoanalytic Conference (www.ipaasia.cn) held in Beijing, October 2010.

I participated in international researches in collaboration with the I.P.A. Committee on Psychoanalytical Prospective of Ageing of patients and psychoanalysts; with Gabriele Junkers (chair of the IPA Committee on ageing), Maria Teresa Hooke and others we presented these results during the European Psychoanalytical Federation Conferences in London (2010); Copenhagen (2011) and during the IPA/IPSO Conference in Mexico City in 2011, in Paris (2012) and in Basel (2013).

I’ve been editor of the Italian Psychoanalytical Annual, and member of board editors for Rivista Italiana di Psicoanalisi, for the website of SPIweb.

I'm currently Chair of the IPA-IPSO Relations Committee that amongst over activities, runs the Tyson Prize, and consultant for the Committee for Members Communications at IPA.
